Microscope Gallery is pleased to host Cool Whip, a reading of five New York City authors in conjunction with the release of a collaborative book of the same name. The book consists of writing by Paul Legault, Dan Magers, Jacob Pastrovich, Edward Marshall Shenk, and Keith J. Varadi and artwork by the Houston collective Sketch Klubb. Cool Whip is a flip book of sorts, consisting of New York poets and Texas artists Varadi has met since college.

Keith J. Varadi (www.keithjvaradi.com) is an artist, writer, and curator, born in Pittsburgh, PA and currently living in New York City. His art has been exhibited nationally and internationally and his writing has been published by Word ServentsWOPOZI, and Unsaid, among others. He is the co-founder of Picture Menu (www.picturemenu.org) and has curated exhibitions at David Shelton Gallery (Houston, TX), Tiger Strikes Asteroid (Philadelphia, PA), Open Space (Baltimore, MD) and Reference Art Gallery (Richmond, VA).

Paul Legault (www.theotherpaul.com) is the co-founder of the translation press Telephone Books; the author of three books of poetry: The Madeleine PoemsThe Other Poems, The Emily Dickinson Reader; and co-editor of The Sonnets: Translating & Rewriting Shakespeare.

Dan Magers’ first book of poems, Partyknife, is published by Birds, LLC. He is co-founder and co-editor of Sink Review, an online poetry journal, founder and editor of Immaculate Disciples Press, a handmade chapbook press focused on poetry and visual arts collaborations.

Jacob Pastrovich (www.jacobpastrovich.com) is a writer and photographer currently living in Brooklyn, NY. He’s published several books and zines including Just Because You Died and I’m Still Alive, Sundays You Go To Church and I Go Sinning, Handcuffed To A Suitcase Of Bricks (with Zach Bushnell), Women, and I Still Don’t Know Which Way To Go.

Edward Marshall Shenk (http://www.edwardmarshallshenk.com/) is from Lancaster, PA, but lives in Brooklyn now. He has exhibited at Nudashank (Baltimore, MD), Napoleon and Tiger Strikes Asteroid (Philadelphia, PA), University of Georgia (Athens, GA), Higher Pictures (New York, NY), The Dependent Art Fair (New York, NY), and NADA Hudson (Hudson, NY). From 2009-2012, he was co-owner and janitor at Reference Art Gallery (Richmond, VA).
