Microscope welcomes The Highwaymen NYC back to Microscope for the 13th edition of their poetry series. The Highwaymen takes place on the full moon of each month and is held at a variety of independent, non-profit, art and performance spaces and clubs throughout Brooklyn. The goal of The Highwaymen NYC is to strengthen a community of emerging, active & relevant poets in Brooklyn and create a meeting place where these poets can showcase and discuss their work.

Elizabeth Clark Wessel is an editor at Argos Books and Circumference: Poetry in Translation, and author of the chapbook Whither Weather (GreenTower Press, 2012). Her poems and translations have appeared in DIAGRAM, A Public Space, Guernica, Poor Claudia, Sixth Finch, Lana Turner Journal, and elsewhere. She lives in Brooklyn, NY and works as a translator.
Marina Blitshteyn is the author of Russian for Lovers (Argos Books, 2011). Her work is featured or forthcoming in 1913, Iartistas, Handsome, Two Serious Ladies, and elsewhere. She is a contributing editor at Apogee Journal and just guest-edited the current issue of No, Dear.
Jay Deshpande’s poetry has recently appeared in Phantom Limb, Bodega, Narrative, Sixth Finch, Atlas Review, Boxcar Poetry Review, and elsewhere. In 2012 he was a winner in Narrative’s Fourth Annual Poetry Contest, and his poem “On the Meaning of Love” was named one of Narrative’s Poem of the Week top picks for 2013. He is a former poetry editor of AGNI. He lives in Brooklyn and works in magazine publishing. (jaydeshpande.com)
William Brewer’s work has appeared in Bodega, BOMB, and Phantom Limb. A Creative Writing Teaching Fellow at Columbia University, he’s also an Assistant Editor for Parnassus: Poetry in Review and a poetry reader for Boston Review. He lives in Brooklyn.
